The Huntington Botanical Gardens

Henry Huntington began developing the Botanical Gardens in 1903. Now they span nearly 120 acres with sweeping lawns and vistas interspersed with statuary, tempiettos, and benches. Approximately 15,000 kinds of plants from all over the world make up the botanical collections, many landscaped into a series of theme gardens.

 

25th Succulent Plants Symposium:
“A New Century of Succulent Plants”

Last year’s symposium took a historic look back at the first 100 years of the Desert Garden at The Huntington and its remarkably diverse collection of plants. This year, a panel of guest speakers will look ahead to the future, discussing new developments in the world of succulents. more...  

 

Plant Sales and Garden Talks

Second Thursday Free Lectures and Plant Sales

Authors and garden experts from around the world present programs to help gardeners keep current on the hottest trends in horticulture. Each lecture is followed by a sale in the Plant Sale Nursery. Free. Friends' Hall. For the next lecture, see our Calendar of Events...

Free Garden Tours

Free tours of the gardens are available with paid admission or membership. Tours are given Tuesday through Friday between noon and 2:00 pm, Saturday and Sunday between 10:30 am and 2:30 pm. Please check in the Entry Pavilion for exact tour times and availability. There are also docents available in the Herb and Rose Gardens during public hours.

Multiple tours are offered daily when open.  To ensure the most enjoyable experience for everyone, each tour is limited to 20 visitors.

Great Rosarians of the World

This annual lecture series now hosted both by The Huntington and the New York Metropolitan Rose Council now has a website where announcements on the 2008 event and honoree will soon be posted.

Ikebana in the Japanese Garden
